Professor Emil Popov - Work biography

Емил ПоповBorn on 18.07.1951 in the town of Kyustendil. During 1975 he completes The National Academy of Painting, Specialty: Sculpture, by Prof. Lyuben Dimitrov. From 2002 is a regular professor of Sculpture. Married with two children.  

Independent exhibitions:

For the period 1994 - 2000  – 5 independent exhibitions in Germany    /Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Katsov/ show rooms „Roze”, „Vansee”, „Titan”.       

From 2001 to 2011 – 12 exhibitions in Bulgaria.

Collective exhibitions:

1983 – 2000 – 4 exhibitions with Angel Stanev /Sofia, Silistra, Pernik, Dobrich/, with Stanislav Pamukchiev / Rakursy Gallery-Sofia, Resonance Gallery- Plovdiv, Prolet Gallery – Burgas /and many others participations in bigger collective exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad.

Sculpture symposiums:

International symposiums Austria /2 participations/, Germany, Switzerland, India, /3 participations/, Japan, Bulgaria /7 participations/.

National Symposiums – Towns of Silistra, Plovdiv, Sofia, Cherven Bryag.

Biennial and fairs of artItaly/ 3 participations/, Polland / 2 participates/, Hungary, Romania, Switzerland, England.

In 1988 – participation in the Olympics of Art in the town of Seoul, South Korea – two granite figures in the Olympic park of Seoul.


2004  – the composition in front of the National stadium in Sofia.  

2006 – Monument Predela, dedicated to the Ilinden-Preobrazhen Uprising.
